Wakara “A New Day”

“Wakara: A New Day” is a bronze monument by renowned sculptor Gary Lee Price. The piece is a powerful tribute to Chief Wakara, the historic leader and warrior of the Timpanogos Nation.

Commissioned in direct collaboration with the Timpanogos tribe, the sculpture serves to honor Chief Wakara’s legacy, raise public awareness about the tribe’s authentic history, and correctly identify the Timpanogos as the primary Indigenous group that early pioneers encountered upon entering the Salt Lake Valley.

A monumental 25-foot version of the statue is planned for permanent installation in a park setting near the sacred Spanish Fork River in Spanish Fork, Utah, complemented by historical plaques sharing the history of the Timpanogos peoples. Smaller, limited-edition scale replicas of the sculpture are also produced through Gary Lee Price Studios for collectors.
