Theodore Roosevelt

“Great Contributors: Theodore Roosevelt Bench” is a bronze monument by master sculptor Gary Lee Price. As part of his signature Great Contributors series, the piece removes historical figures from formal stone pedestals and portrays them in a highly approachable, humanizing manner.

The interactive sculpture depicts the 26th U.S. President seated comfortably on a bronze park bench. Roosevelt is captured in a relaxed yet dignified pose, with his left arm resting casually along the back of the bench and his right hand on his thigh, exuding a sense of calm confidence and strong presence. The intricate bronze work meticulously details the textures of his period clothing, spectacles, and expressive features.

The sculpture is deliberately designed with open space on the bench, inviting viewers, students, and park visitors to sit right alongside “Teddy” to take photos and reflect on his legacy as a statesman, soldier, and pioneering conservationist.
